The New Big Leap

Wow, I am waaaaayyyy overdue for a blog update! Since we last met, I have met an amazing guy and am in a wonderful, loving, supportive relationship - yay for love! I am in a hotel room in North Houston as I write this, preparing to go to Galveston in the morning to board the Crown Princess, and become one of the newest stagehands for Princess Cruise Lines. I won't say I'm not nervous, for several reasons. Not the least is it means being at sea without a day off for 6 months. It means being away from my new beau for 6 months (we've been together for just over 5 months), and being back in that place of "I hope I can do this. I hope they like me. I hope I like them" and so on and so on. There are many things I'm excited about with regard to this job - I've always wanted to work on a cruise line, and it is exciting. I'll get to learn a light board (Whole Hog III in case you are wondering) that I've wanted to get to know, as many touring companies use them. I'll get much more in-depth knowledge about moving lights, which will be invaluable. And not least, I'll be having a regular paycheck for a while, and the opportunity to move up into a management/officer position, and will literally be making money hand-over-fist as I really don't have any expenses while I am at sea. Know that I am so very grateful for all the wonderful support I've had over the past few weeks getting ready for this leap. I love that so many are asking about Paul (my guy), and how he is handling it all. I know you will be keeping both of us in your thoughts and prayers as he keeps the home fires burning while I'm gone. For those who know him and are connected to him on Facebook, I know he'll appreciate you touching base and saying you're thinking of him. We've been fairly inseparable the past 5 months, and I know it will be a huge adjustment for him to have me gone.
