Wow ~ I can't believe that I leave in just under 3 weeks for tour! I've gotten a surprising amount done already - I just have a few minor things to get (when I realize what they are!), and I have to get rain gear. I was able to get some yellow "Morton Salt Girl" rubber boots, but I need some rain pants and a jacket. I know that more than once I'll be setting up or striking in the rain, and I'll just have to deal with it. I'm not looking forward to that part - I really hate working in the rain...
One thing I would like to address here is the question of what is happening with my house and my cats - the first question everyone seems to ask when I say I'm "running away to join the circus" is "Wow, for real?!?" and the second is "Are you giving up your apartment?" The answer is no, I am not. I have someone house-sitting for me, and he will be taking care of my cats. I'll only be gone for 9 weeks, so it would not make sense for me to give up my home.
I am, however, planning on having a HUGE yard sale on June 6 - so if you are in the Northampton area, please come by! :)
It's really kinda fun - it's too soon to actually start packing for the tour, but I got tired of tripping over bags of stuff in my bedroom. So I put a big cardboard box in my room and began to put items in the box. As I do so, I write them on the side and check them off, also noting items that I still need to get. It keeps everything together, I have a place to list what I still need (without little pieces of paper running around), and it is exciting to watch the box fill, knowing I am that much more prepared for Tour.
The really funny thing is that I keep catching myself saying things like "I need to do this before I go on vaca - I mean Tour." I think that's a good sign! I can't help but feel like I'm going away to summer camp - I know I'll work a lot and work hard with nary a day off, but I can't wait...
