Running Away / Running Toward

Wow ~ I am SO excited! In just 3 1/2 short weeks, I'll be on my way to Northern VT to join the Circus! :)

I am starting this blog because a) I want to have some kind of journal of my experiences, and b) a lot (and I mean a LOT) of people have asked me to keep in touch, keep them updated, and to share my experiences.

I have found, as I have told people I am making this journey, that it touches something deep within - from their childhood - that makes them want to join me. Something about letting go of the ordinary to step into the extraordinary, to let go of restriction and embrace the creation of illusion. The idea of living one's life this way is so far outside the ability of most people to conceive, that they are fascinated by someone who is "living the dream".

I am at once excited beyond belief and terrified. This opportunity is well beyond my comfort zone, doing things that in many ways I have never done before. I have never lived in such tight quarters with another person for such a long time, especially one I am not related to or romantically involved with. I have never run the Front of House for more than a few evenings at a stretch. I have never gone over 2 weeks without telephone and internet since I I've had them. I'm nervous about leaving my home, my cats, and my life.

However, I know that the experiences I will gain are priceless. The practical experiences I will come home with, will make my resume shine: coordinated a tour, check. front of house manager, check. press liasion, check. circus experience, check. lighting design for aerialists, check. Yet I also know that the personal growth will be in ways I cannot anticipate and will be felt in way I cannot even begin to know.

So much to do ~ let the journey begin...
