It is the morning of our first jump. I have to say that part of me is very excited, and knows that once we have "jumped" a couple of times, I'll have a lot more balance to my schedule. Yesterday morning was a lot of running around, trying to get things finished in order to open the show - which means that over 85% of what I need to do is actually now done, except for the actual running of the shows.
My truck, Tech Truck Laverne, is just about loaded. My job this morning is to finish doing some paperwork and getting my "master book" as together as I can, and consolidate all my forms and site information in one place. I am grateful to have sit-down work today, as I think I sat down a grand total of about 70 minutes over the course of a 17 hour day...
I must say, Northern VT is incredibly beautiful, with the most temperamental weather I have ever experienced! In one day, I have had to wear my heavy sweatshirt, traded it in for sunblock, shorts & a t-shirt, then had to don my serious weather gear for torrential downpours, then it is clear as if nothing happened within 40 minutes.
So far, on this jump day, we seem to be having an overcast, cool, but non-rainy day - in other words, a perfect day for a drive. My navigator is the coach from Mongolia, a very sweet woman, who I think sometimes feels out of place because her English isn't as good as she would like. Although we did discover this morning at breakfast that she speaks Russian, and I speak just a little bit of Russian. I'm not sure how good of an actual navigator she will be, but at least she'll be able to check of the directions, so I won't have to keep track of it, which will be a huge help.
See you in Essex, VT! :)
